Dennis Idahosa has been named as the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) running partner for the September 21 gubernatorial election.
Idahosa will serve as the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
This ends the dilemma that arose as a result of the party’s gubernatorial primaries.
Recall that the primary election on February 17 produced three separate victors.
Idahosa won with 40,453 votes, according to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chaired the election commission. Monday Okpebholo was the first runner up with 100 votes.
Okpebholo was also declared the winner in a parallel election, with almost 12,000 votes, as was another aspirant, Anamero Dekeri.
Following an outcry, the party ruled the primary result inconclusive and scheduled a rerun on February 22nd, presided by Cross River Governor Bassey Otu.
Okpebholo won the fresh primary election with 12,433 votes, while Dennis Idahosa came in second with 6,541.
