The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has released the mugshot photo of popular Nigerian crossdresser, Okunleye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky.
The commission shared the photo on their Instagram platform, depicting Bobrisky holding the EFCC placard, which outlined his alleged crime of currency mutilation. The arrest, which occurred at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State, was confirmed by a spokesperson for the commission, Dele Oyewale, who disclosed that Bobrisky was arrested for currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.
This development follows previous reports by Kemi Filani about Bobrisky’s arrest and the allegations surrounding it. Notably, Very Dark Man, an online personality, claimed to have instigated Bobrisky’s arrest and hinted at further offenses Bobrisky may face. Reacting to his release, Very Dark Man reiterated his stance against Bobrisky, expressing readiness to face consequences if it leads to Bobrisky facing the law.
The release of Bobrisky’s mugshot has ignited a frenzy on social media, with users praising his appearance despite detention. Some users marveled at his ability to maintain his beauty, while others speculated about his future. This development comes amidst ongoing debates about cross-dressing and LGBTQ+ rights in Nigeria. A police spokesperson previously explained the legal complexities surrounding arrests related to cross-dressing and LGBTQ+ identity, highlighting the lack of specific laws targeting cross-dressing in the country.
