Hundreds of pensioners rejoiced as the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration disbursed their monthly entitlement.
The pensioners, elated by the timely payment of their monthly stipend, urged the Governor to maintain the momentum. They also requested that the government ensure the settlement of their accrued gratuity.
Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, head of the Kano State Pensioners Forum, stated that they had never had it so nice before.
“The commendation is necessary as members were paid not only their pension benefits before the month ending without a single kobo deduction from their pension as was the routine previously,” he said.
He also urged the Kano State administration to promptly resume payment of gratuities and death benefits to civil personnel who died during and after eight years of service.
Meanwhile, Kano State has halted the payment of monthly salaries to 10,000 workers employed by the previous government of Abdullahi Ganduje.
