Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Governor, has encouraged Nigerians of all faiths and ethnicities to maintain peaceful coexistence.
Governor Oborevwori asked people to love and care for one another, according to a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon.
He advised Muslims to follow in Prophet Mohammed’s footsteps by imbibing the Holy Prophet’s altruistic teachings.
While thanking Muslims in Delta and around Nigeria, he stated that the Eid el-Kabir celebration is a time of sacrifice, love, harmony, and family time, and he asked Nigerians of all faiths and ethnicities to maintain peaceful coexistence and to love and care for one another.
He asked Muslims and Nigerians in general to continue their prayers for the country’s progress and peace.
The governor stated that security authorities were well prepared to guarantee that the state’s Sallah celebration was calm and incident-free.
Oborevwori told Muslims in the state that his government will continue to work with them to propel the state forward.
In his words, he said:
“We must use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to reflect further and pray for our country to overcome the many problems confronting it.
“As we work to solidify the reigns of administration throughout the nation, let’s continue to live in harmony and cooperate with all tiers of government.
“I implore every one of you to ensure that, as we rejoice, let us all learn to be our brothers’ keepers by promoting peaceful coexistence amongst people of different tribes and religious beliefs.”
