The House of Representatives approved the Electoral Act Amendment Bill for a second reading on Wednesday.

Mr Francis Waive, who represents the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency in Delta State, sponsored the bill named “A Bill for an Act to amend the Electoral Act, 2022 and for Related Matters.”

Presenting the Bill, Waive criticised the inadequacies in the Electoral Act 2022, stating that a modification to the legislation to allow “for the electronic transmission of results would help the nation’s democracy.”

He also proposed reviewing the voter registration every ten years.

“A review of the voter register every 10 years will be a good starting point,” he told reporters.
