Twelve consignments of cocaine belonging to members of a drug trafficking organisation were intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA on Saturday, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu.
The NDLEA reports that Augustine Justine Emeka, 44, a businessman who purportedly deals in copper wire, was detained at the airport upon arriving from Douala, Cameroon via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on an Ethiopia Airlines aircraft carrying the 12 consignments, which included 797 17.6-kilogram cocaine pellets.
According to the agency, the suspect acknowledged during a preliminary questioning that the cocaine consignments were intended for distribution to twelve distinct individuals within the nation.
The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, revealed this on Sunday.
