Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Declan Rice made the decision to join Arsenal from West Ham.
The England midfielder was a subject of interest from the Gunners and City this summer.
City saw a £90m bid rejected for the 24-year-old before Arsenal returned with an offer of over £100m to secure Rice’s signature.
Guardiola believes Rice will be an “incredible player” for their Premier League rivals and has suggested the player always wanted to play under Mikel Arteta despite substantial interest from Manchester City.
“Rice decided on Arsenal so all the best.
“He’s an important player, a very nice guy and for England will be important. For Arsenal, what an incredible player,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield final at Wembley.
