Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has told Chelsea not to expect a huge offer from any club for Romelu Lukaku. Even the wealthy Saudi Arabian clubs, he noted, could only give €50 million for Belgian internationals. Yesterday marked the official end of Lukaku’s time with the Serie A powerhouses. He will undoubtedly return to Stamford Bridge, but rumours suggest both parties desire to separate ways.
Inter is interested in acquiring him long-term, but according to Marotta, the transfer fee must be fair.
In 2021, the Blues paid a hefty transfer price of approximately €115 million to bring Lukaku back to England from Inter Milan.
However, the Inter CEO brought up this summer’s proposals of roughly €50 million from Saudi Arabia for the striker.
“Chelsea must decide what they will do with him, it’s normal that they can’t put him on the market and expect large fees.
“It’s no coincidence the offer from Saudi Arabia for Lukaku was around €50m,” Marotta said (via Fabrizio Romano)
