The family of the late actor, Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, has strongly refuted claims made by movie maker Zik Zulu regarding the alleged maltreatment of Saint Obi by his wife, Lynda, during their marriage. In a statement released by the actor’s older sisters, Ugoeze Edith Chinyere Obichuku and Mrs. Freda Nwachukwu, the family expressed their disappointment and denounced the claims as false, malicious and insensitive.
Zik Zulu had recently published an article detailing alleged troubles within Saint Obi’s marriage, suggesting that he had isolated himself from friends and colleagues in the movie industry following his union with Lynda. The article further insinuated that Saint Obi faced opposition from his in-laws, who regarded him as a fortune hunter due to his wife’s high-ranking position in a telecommunications company.
The revelations by Zik Zulu sparked shock among many Nigerians, leading to an onslaught of criticism towards Lynda on social media platforms. However, the Nwafor family has firmly distanced themselves from these allegations, stating that they do not accurately represent the Lynda they know.
In their press statement, the family condemned Zik Zulu’s article as regrettable and stressed that it was not authorized or endorsed by any member of the family. They emphasized that the views and accusations expressed therein solely reflect the writer’s opinion and are completely false and malicious. The family requested privacy during this mourning period and expressed gratitude for the condolences and support received from friends, fans and well-wishers.
The Nwafor family plans to announce the funeral arrangements for their beloved brother, son, father, and husband, Saint Obi, at a later date. They pray for his soul to rest in perfect peace.
