A new memoir by Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, titled “Making it Big: Lessons from a Life in Business,” has rapidly climbed the sales charts, reaching the fourth position on Amazon’s Best Sellers list for Business, Biographies, and Memoirs.

This achievement comes just one day after the book’s initial release. The 286-page publication details Otedola’s journey from a modest childhood to achieving billionaire status by the age of 41.

Launched simultaneously in London and through global retail outlets, the book is available on major platforms, including Amazon, its dedicated website, and Dymocks, which is Australia’s largest bookseller.

On the competitive Amazon chart, Otedola’s memoir finds itself in notable company, positioned behind Phil Knight’s “Shoe Dog” at number three, Simon Squibb’s “What’s Your Dream?” at number two, and Gary Stevenson’s “The Trading Game: A Confession” which holds the top spot.

The book offers a cascade of personal revelations, providing readers with an intimate look into the businessman’s life. Otedola candidly discusses his educational background, revealing that he dropped out and never attended university, having consistently struggled academically during his primary and secondary school years.

He also shares significant encounters with influential figures, including a 2005 breakfast meeting where former President Olusegun Obasanjo persuaded him to donate ₦300 million for the completion of the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.

Another pivotal moment detailed is an early meeting with the late business magnate MKO Abiola, which profoundly shaped his understanding of the relationship between money, power, and influence. The memoir further chronicles his ventures into diverse sectors like oil and gas, shipping, and power, while also addressing the severe setbacks that challenged his fortune and reputation.
