Maigari Ahmadu, the Minister of State for Steel Development, announced that the Federal Government intends to restructure the country’s steel sector in order to boost the economy, generate jobs, and accelerate industrialization.

Ahmadu, on Friday, paid a familiarisation visit to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Awka region of the state.

He stated that the state is a “cluster of industrial development in the country.”

The Minister, who had previously toured the Metallurgical Training Institute in Onitsha, expressed hope that both the federal and state governments would assist in increasing interest in skill acquisition and collaborate with the institute to reduce poverty.

He explained that the visit was the first facility tour he would be undertaking under his supervision and that it was the product of a well-planned agenda.

“The present administration is passionate about the steel sector. The MTI, Onitsha would get serious attention under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu while thinking outside the box within their limited resources,” according to him.

While greeting the Minister, Soludo praised the current administration for putting the vital things first.

He also expressed hope that the current government will put in place measures to help the country realise its full potential.

Previously, Bode Fakuade, Director and Chief Executive, MTI, Onitsha, requested additional government attention to the Institute in the form of more infrastructure and finance.

Fakuade added that investment and infrastructure will go a long way towards improving young people’s abilities and therefore alleviating restlessness.
