An old video of music star Chinedu Okoli, better known as Flavour, explaining why he isn’t ready to marry has resurfaced online, stirring speculation about his marital status.
This comes after his first babymama, Sandra Okagbue, claimed she is married to him while mourning his late father, who passed away in May.
Sandra took to her Instagram page to share new photos of herself along with a caption bidding farewell to Flavour’s late father. Referring to him as her “father-in-law,” her statement raised eyebrows as Flavour has never publicly acknowledged being married.
In the resurfaced video, Flavour candidly discusses his views on marriage, expressing that he is not currently in a mental space to commit to a relationship. He emphasizes the importance of self-improvement before seeking a partner, stating,
You have to be that person for yourself first, and when you’re done with yourself, you start looking for.”
His remarks have sparked various reactions online, with some expressing confusion and skepticism over Sandra’s claim. One user, Nora Ainkins, remarked, “Omo, this is embarrassing,” while another, Life Of Homa, suggested that the couple may have chosen to keep their relationship private.
However, others defended Sandra’s assertion, with Evelyn Odiagbe stating, “She said he is her husband then definitely he is.” Some criticized Flavour’s past comments on marriage, questioning the fairness of his statements given his alleged marital status.
Earlier in the year 2020, Flavour had officially married Sandra Okagbue, his first babymama. Allegedly, all marriage rites were finalized on August 3, 2020, in Enugu, with strict measures to maintain privacy.
The alleged marriage was indirectly confirmed by Sandra’s sister, Bella Okagbue, during her time in the BBN house, where she hinted at her sister being married. Although Bella didn’t explicitly mention Flavour, many speculated that she was referring to him.
The conflicting narratives surrounding Flavour’s marital status continue to fuel speculation and debate among fans and observers.
