Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje issued a directive on Monday. The directive requires all public servants with political appointments to transfer control of their offices in accordance with established protocol. The instruction was from the Secretary’s office to the State Government, headed “Handover of Activities”, and signed by the permanent secretary, Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota.
All Commissioners, Special Advisers, Chief Executives of Parastatals and Government-owned Corporations received the directive from Ganduje. Other political appointees received also received the same directive. They are to turn over their administration and general services in their respective institutions to the permanent secretaries and directors.
Ganduje mandated that government assets held by appointees be turned over to permanent secretaries. Or, in the latest instance, directors of administration & general services/directors of personnel management (DPM), by May 26.
He also instructed them to provide the Office of the Secretary to the State Government with copies of their handover notes for recordkeeping.
