Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has challenged youngsters to embrace leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation in order to propel the state and Nigeria ahead.
Governor Mbah provided the advise on Saturday in Enugu at the 2024 Enugu Leadership and Business Summit, which was sponsored by Enugu Innovative Youths.
The summit is titled “The Role of Youths in Building a New Enugu”.
The governor advised the kids to strive for excellence and build a lifelong learning mentality in order to attain their life goals.
While addressing the youngsters at the summit held at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, the governor praised the enthusiasm they brought to the submission, stating that the meeting demonstrated the immense potential that the youths possessed.
The governor, represented by the State Government’s Secretary, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, noted that the issue struck a deep chord with their collective goals.
According to him, this demonstrated the critical role that youths had in altering the fate of Enugu State, whether via enterprise, advocacy, or public service.
He challenged them to embrace leadership, which he defined as something that is inherent in what one strives for, rather than a title or position.
He stated that leadership does not begin in the boardroom or legislative chambers, but rather with self-awareness, a dedication to honesty, empathy, and ethical conduct.
The Governor said:
“It is defined by the courage to take initiative, resilience to navigate challenge and compassion to uplift those around you.
“True leaders inspire trust, empower others and champion inclusivity.
“Remember to uplift those around you when ascending the ladder of success.
“This is because true greatness is not measured by personal accolades you receive but by the positive impact you have on others.
“Your contribution matters and you have power to make a difference. The time to lead is now and the world is waiting for you.”
