Gvardiol Believes Man City Deserved More Than a Draw Against Arsenal

Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol expressed his belief that his team deserved more than a solitary point in their Premier League encounter against Arsenal. Despite the 0-0 stalemate, which maintains both teams’ positions in the league standings, Gvardiol criticized Arsenal’s defensive tactics at the Etihad Stadium.

Reflecting on the match, the Croatian defender emphasized the team’s performance rather than individual achievements. He asserted that Man City had opportunities to secure victory, especially towards the end of the game, highlighting a missed chance from a corner kick.

“I’m happy, but I don’t want to talk about my performance,” the defender began.

“I want to talk about the team performance today, and the way we performed and if you ask me, we deserved much more than just the point but we need to move on to the next one.”

“That’s football,” Gvardiol expressed.

“In some games there won’t be many opportunities to score a goal but when you get a chance you need to score it and we could’ve scored at the end with a corner kick, but we didn’t.”

“The good thing is we didn’t lose, and a point means we are still in the game to fight for a title and there’s still a long journey, so we just need to be on the highest level till the end of the season.”

Gvardiol acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football but emphasized the importance of maintaining high performance levels throughout the season. Despite the disappointment of not securing a win, he remained optimistic about Man City’s title aspirations, emphasizing the long journey ahead in the season.

The defender’s remarks underscore Man City’s determination to remain competitive and pursue success in the Premier League title race.
