Students of tertiary institutions in Lagos State have expressed their displeasure about the planned nationwide protests that are scheduled to start on August 1.
Nigerians, especially the youth, have committed to holding nationwide protests from August 1 to August 10 in order to call attention to the government’s neglect of the country’s inhabitants.
The protesters are scheduled to gather to voice their displeasure over the hardships in Nigeria at state government buildings throughout the nation as well as the National Assembly complex in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, according to the organisers.
On Tuesday, however, Mr. Alimi Lekan-Idris, President of NULASS (the National Association of Lagos State Students), said that the students would not be participating in the nationwide protests.
He said:
“It is crucial that we remember the importance of peace and stability and use dialogue to achieve our collective goals.
”Given these significant contributions and progress we have witnessed, we wish to state that we are not in support of any protest against the government of Lagos State.”
