Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season having failed to make an impact on loan at Anfield because of injury.
The Brazilian signed on loan from Juventus last summer, but has played only 13 minutes for Jurgen Klopp’s side, a brief appearance in their 4-1 defeat ay Napoli in the Champions League in September.
The 26-year-old had surgery on a thigh injury last year but has not been named in Liverpool’s match day squad for their last seven games.
Speaking to GOAL about his future, the Brazilian said:
“Next season I see it with good eyes. It will be decisive in my career and I am working very well,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to showing this new version of Arthur. Hopefully I have an option to say goodbye in Liverpool by playing something, to say goodbye to my team-mates, the technical committee and the fans, who have been very good to me.”
Liverpool decided against triggering the clause in Arthur’s contract to sign him on a permanent deal at the send of the season as they look to solve their midfield problems by recruiting from elsewhere.
