Nollywood star Ireti Doyle has taken a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing a throwback photo from her first major role in the hit 2006 movie Sitanda, which marked her entry into Nollywood.

The image, sent to her by a colleague, dates back to 2006 when the movie, directed by Izu Ojukwu and produced under Amstel Malta’s debut Nollywood project, became a huge success and earned 11 AMAA nominations.

Ireti described her journey in the film industry as both diverse and colorful, writing:

A colleague just sent me this picture… The year is 2006, the film is Sitanda, Amstel Malta’s first foray into Nollywood, directed by Izu Ojukwu. It went on to be a roaring success and was nominated in 11 categories at the AMAA awards. My journey is certainly diverse and colourful!”

The actress, who has spent over three decades in the industry, has faced personal challenges along the way. Early last year, she recounted a life-threatening encounter with carbon monoxide poisoning, where she was found unconscious in her car but was miraculously saved.

Despite being separated from her husband Patrick Doyle, Ireti explained in 2023 that she still uses his surname because “Ireti Doyle” is a name nearly 30 years in the making and now firmly hers.
