Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has confirmed her recent visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following her daughter’s wedding. The actress addressed speculations through an Instagram post, clarifying her experience and urging Nigerians to adhere to currency regulations.

Iyabo revealed that the EFCC invited her for questioning on May 5, 2025, where she was asked about her personal details, career, and the events at her daughter’s wedding. The commission presented videos from the ceremony showing guests spraying Naira and foreign currencies.

According to the actress, she was unaware that spraying money, even in foreign denominations like dollars, was prohibited. She clarified that she previously believed only the abuse or mutilation of the Naira constituted an offense. After enlightening her on the laws, the EFCC allowed her to leave the same day, though her lawyer remained on standby in case of further inquiries.

In her statement, the mother of two urged Nigerians to avoid the long-standing tradition of spraying money at events to prevent issues with the authorities. She emphasized the importance of understanding and respecting the country’s currency laws.

“Let’s prioritize caution and avoid potential problems,” she concluded, encouraging her fans and fellow citizens to rethink this cultural practice.
