Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has fiercely defended her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, after Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi warned the couple against posting affectionate photos amid Tanzania’s tense election period.
Iyabo condemned Mange’s remarks as audacious and protective of her daughter’s freedom to share her life online.
Kemi Filani reported that Mange Kimambi had advised Priscilla and her husband, Juma Jux, to refrain from posting loved-up content on social media during Tanzania’s upcoming elections, suggesting they wait five months until after the elections.
Reacting on Instagram, Iyabo Ojo called Mange’s comments “unacceptable” and defended her daughter’s right to be confident and authentic. She emphasized that despite her in-laws’ peaceful nature, she is very protective of Priscilla. Iyabo also denied rumors that the government sponsored her daughter’s wedding, clarifying that it was a family cultural tradition, with the bride’s family covering costs.
“Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She’ll post what she likes, when, and how she likes. She doesn’t need you to love her. She is very loved and well-loved. We protect our own. Never forget that.”
Priscilla Ojo responded to Mange’s warning with a confident throwback post from her Tanzanian wedding, captioned,
“Let’s throwback a little.
Thank God, say God no be man.”
Her post drew supportive comments from Nollywood stars Toyin Abraham and her mother, Iyabo Ojo, who commented, “Lion no dey born goat,” signaling pride and resilience.
Priscilla and Juma Jux recently held the final leg of their wedding in Tanzania, attended by celebrities like Funke Akindele and Diamond Platnumz. Earlier, they had their traditional wedding in Nigeria, followed by a beachfront white wedding in Lagos, drawing attention from many high-profile figures.
