Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has recently called out Kokozaria, one of the close aides of Lagos parks chairman, MC Oluomo, for posting her photo and referring to her and other Yoruba indigenes as “omo ale” (bastards) on his Instagram page. This derogatory remark was made with respect to their lack of support for APC during the general elections.
In response, Iyabo Ojo expressed her outrage on social media. She stated that Kokozaria must be held accountable for any harm that may come to her or others. She further questioned if the Nigerian police would take such derogatory remarks lightly. Furthermore, she urged them to take action against such behaviour.
The use of derogatory language in politics and social discourse is unacceptable and has no place in a civil society. It is important that leaders and their aides act with decorum. They have to refrain from making derogatory remarks against individuals who may hold different political views.
Actress Iyabo Ojo’s courageous stand against this unacceptable behaviour serves as a reminder that all individuals have the right to express their opinions and should be treated with respect regardless of their political affiliations.
