Nollywood actress Jaiye Kuti has become the center of online discussions following her remarks about the outfit worn by Kazim Adeoti, Mercy Aigbe’s husband, at the premiere of her movie Thinline.
At the event, which took place earlier this week, Kazim Adeoti donned a two-piece off-shoulder outfit that quickly became the subject of online mockery. Many critics claimed the outfit was unbefitting of his status and blamed Mercy Aigbe for allegedly diminishing his image. However, Jaiye Kuti, in a viral video, complimented the filmmaker, describing him as looking “amazing” and “beautiful.”
Jaiye Kuti’s comments did not sit well with many social media users, who speculated she was being sarcastic. Responses ranged from playful banter to outright criticism:

In one memorable instance last year, Kazim dressed in women’s clothing as part of a publicity stunt for one of Mercy Aigbe’s films. This move earned him the unofficial title of “Husband of the Year” from netizens, even as it divided public opinion.
During the premiere, Mercy Aigbe expressed heartfelt gratitude to her husband, breaking down in tears as she recounted his unwavering support. She shared how Kazim agreed to help promote the movie when she approached him, emphasizing his willingness to go the extra mile for her.
“A man who marries an actress must be ready to create content to participate in his wife’s work,” Mercy remarked.
Her gesture of kneeling to appreciate him in front of her colleagues drew applause and admiration from attendees.
