Nigerian music executive and elder brother to Psquare, Jude Okoye, has stirred fresh debate over the country’s leadership structure. In a post shared via Instagram Stories, he made a bold suggestion that anyone seeking political office in Nigeria should, at the very least, hold a university Bachelor’s degree.
He questioned how difficult it really is to reform Nigeria’s electoral laws and emphasized the importance of educated leadership in a country brimming with intellectuals.
“How hard is it to reform our electoral act, making at least a Uni Bachelor’s degree a benchmark for qualification to run for any office in Nigeria?
We can’t have the uneducated leading the educated.
Electoral reform. NAS,” he wrote.
Jude’s call has struck a chord with many Nigerians who believe the country’s leadership should reflect its educated population. His comment adds to the growing demand for reforms that go beyond voting processes to tackle eligibility standards.
In related political commentary, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie recently advocated for Nigeria’s next president to emerge from the South East, stressing fairness and regional balance as key to national unity.
Elsewhere, Israel DMW advised Nigerians to embrace election outcomes calmly. After the Supreme Court upheld Monday Okpebholo as Edo State governor over Asue Ighodalo, Israel reminded citizens that “anointing does not win elections,” reacting to viral images of Ighodalo receiving prayers from a clergyman before the ruling.
Meanwhile, Jude Okoye has also been in the headlines for revisiting past rifts with artists like Peter Okoye and Cynthia Morgan. He accused them of choosing independence over loyalty, only to return years later with blame instead of accountability. According to him, their fall from grace was a direct result of their own decisions.
