Tanzanian-Nigerian singer Juma Jux has opened up about the personal journey of guiding his wife, Priscilla Ojo, into Islam.
Speaking in a recent interview with Afrik Media, the R&B star revealed that convincing Priscilla to embrace his faith was no easy task. According to him, the process required spiritual discipline, patience, and guidance from Islamic scholars.
“It was a little difficult convincing my wife to become a Muslim. On the other hand, I was receiving lessons from religious leaders, so there was a way that they were teaching me about how to convince her, and with time, she understood.”
Jux acknowledged that it wasn’t something he rushed into. He described the journey as “tedious,” noting that he leaned heavily on his religious mentors to help him communicate his faith in a way Priscilla could understand and accept. Eventually, she came around.
Reflecting on their highly publicised wedding, Jux said the entire experience felt destined.
“I knew everything when it came to my wedding. I had a dream about it. I was so lucky to find someone who wants the same thing as I do.”
Since tying the knot with Priscilla—daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo—Juma has continued to show affection and appreciation for her publicly. Just weeks ago, during the filming of his “God Design” music video, the singer hailed Priscilla as the best wife, praising her for standing by him through all seasons.
The couple’s love story has captured the attention of many across East and West Africa. At their traditional wedding, Juma went a step further by making a heartfelt pledge to his in-laws, promising to care for Iyabo Ojo and her ex-husband and even inviting them to Tanzania when the couple begins to raise children.
In March, when Priscilla celebrated her 24th birthday, Jux expressed how deeply she had impacted his life.
“Since she came into my life, everything started making sense,” he said. “She coloured my world in ways I can’t describe. I’m happy I get to spend this birthday with her—as her husband.”
