Former governors Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, and Rivers State’s Nyesom Wike are in a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The three former governors arrived at around 3:33 pm, but security delayed them because they needed approval from their superior to go to the President’s office because they were not informed about their visit.
Wike and Umahi were both in the state house last Friday, albeit they arrived separately to meet with the President.
While Wike was accompanied by former Delta State Governor James Ibori and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Umahi was accompanied by the recently appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
Wike told the media on Friday that he was in the State House to demonstrate his support for President Tinubu.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has chosen Akpabio as its candidate for Senate President, while Umahi, who just left office, is a Senator-elect.
According to unconfirmed reports, Wike may be considered for a ministerial position because of his participation in the February 25 presidential election that brought Tinubu to power, despite the fact that he is a member of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
