Juventus climb to Third as Their 15-point Deduction has Been Revoked

Juventus’ 15-point penalty for illicit transfer activity was revoked on Thursday. This was after Italy’s highest sporting court ruled that the case should be re-examined.

The decision bumped the Turin giants up to third in Serie A with 59 points. However, they will have to wait for a new ruling from the Italian Football Federation’s (FIGC) appeals court. The court inflicted the original punishment.

The Old Lady was handed a points deduction after an investigation into the club’s past transfer dealings. The dealings spanned two years from 2019 to 2021 by Italian football’s governing body.

Juventus were accused of fixing their balance sheets with artificial gains of around 60m euros from club transfers. Additionally, they were found guilty of these charges by the FIGC’s appeals court in January.

The club, however, denied any wrongdoing and took its case to a tribunal at the Olympic Committee, Italy’s highest sporting court.

Juventus are also facing an investigation from Uefa over potential breaches of its club licensing and financial fair play regulations, which was announced last month.

With Napoli almost out of sight at the top of Serie A, Juventus can finish in the second spot, as they now sit just two points behind Lazio with eight games remaining.
