Nigerian Fuji maestro King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1 or K1, has shed light on his fallout with fellow music legend Ayinla Kollington.
In an interview with Agbaletu TV, K1 revealed his deep disappointment with Kollington for failing to offer condolences following the death of his mother. Reflecting on their shared history, K1 recounted how he had gone above and beyond for Kollington during his mother’s burial, arranging dignitaries, covering the finances, and showing unwavering support. He expressed frustration over Kollington’s excuse that he had called but was unable to reach him.
I am so angry with Alhaji Kollington because he never showed up to offer his condolences when I lost my mum. When his own mother passed away, I supported him to give her a befitting burial. I brought a lot of dignitaries and handled all the finances 100%. What could have happened after everything I did for him? He is hale and hearty and in Nigeria. The only excuse he gave was that he called me, and I didn’t pick up. Am I not supposed to be angry?”
This revelation adds another chapter to the storied career of Kwam1, who has faced other controversies in recent years.
Last year, Kwam1’s former drummer, Kunle Ayanlowo, alleged that the Fuji icon mistreated him and others during their time together. Kunle accused K1 of neglect and claimed he had suffered from health issues under his employment. Kwam1 dismissed these claims, asserting that he raised Kunle from obscurity and accusing him of attempting to tarnish his reputation.
The dispute escalated when Kunle accused Kwam1 of personal misconduct, including allegations of infidelity, and urged him to amend his ways.
