Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the departing governor of Kano State, will officially hand over the reins of the state’s affairs to Engr. Abba Yusuf today.
The event will take place at the Government House in Kano at 9 pm on Sunday, May 28, 2023, according to the departing Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, who confirmed the news in a statement on Sunday morning.
He said that the transition committee for the Kano State government had already informed the transition committee for the governor-elect of the development.
Muhammad emphasised that the two committees met the same week that a handing-over document was sent to the governor-elect committee and that they also worked out a coordinated schedule for the event.
The commissioner said that Ganduje would lead the Kano delegation to Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29 from Abuja immediately after the ceremony.
He said that the governor’s departure was also required to meet the deadline for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to close in time for the inauguration event.
The message advised people to keep praying for harmony and progress in the state.
