The Kebbi State Police Command has issued a firm and categorical denial in response to allegations that it placed a rescued child, identified as Ezechukwu, into a state-run orphanage.
The claim, which was recently circulated by a former member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state, has been dismissed by the police as entirely false and without merit.
In an official statement addressing the issue, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, emphasised that the primary duty of the Nigerian Police Force is the protection of lives and property.
He asserted that the unfounded allegations appeared to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the hard-earned reputation and public image of the Kebbi State Police Command.
Abubakar stated clearly, “The claims are completely unfounded. We remain focused on our core responsibilities and are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism.”
He further urged members of the public to completely disregard the misleading report, assuring them of the command’s integrity in handling such sensitive matters.
The statement concluded with a stern warning that the Command would not hesitate to pursue legal action against any individual or group found to be involved in the malicious spread of false information aimed at discrediting the force and disrupting public peace.
