Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo has stirred controversy after calling out actress Iyabo Ojo over viral photos of her newborn grandson.
On Sunday, Iyabo proudly announced the arrival of her first grandchild, sharing pictures of herself, her daughter Priscilla, and the baby boy. The news was met with excitement from fans and colleagues, but Kemi Olunloyo has cast doubts on the authenticity of the pictures.
Reacting via her Facebook page, Olunloyo alleged that the photos Iyabo shared were AI-generated and urged her to “stop fooling the internet.” She maintained her earlier claim that Priscilla and her partner welcomed the child through a surrogate.
In follow-up posts, Olunloyo alleged that Priscilla and Juma underwent IVF, which was implanted into a surrogate, and claimed that a baby exchange had taken place months ago. She also suggested the child was not delivered in Canada, as some reports claimed, but elsewhere.
She went further to draw a link between those celebrating Iyabo’s grandson and the tragic death of late singer Mohbad, a comment that has sparked outrage online.
“Iyabo Ojo should stop using her AI baby picture to fool the internet. Where’s your AI video? Her fans are very gullible. The baby was a surrogate baby… Anyone celebrating Iyabo’s grandson is also celebrating the death of Mohbad. Do NOT celebrate tragedy,” Olunloyo wrote.
This is not the first time the journalist has challenged Iyabo over family matters. In July, when Priscilla’s pregnancy became public, Olunloyo alleged that the couple had opted for surrogacy and claimed the baby would eventually hold three passports—Canadian, Tanzanian, and Nigerian.
Their feud also dates back to earlier accusations. In June, Olunloyo alleged that Iyabo’s late mother died from complications related to paranoid schizophrenia and accused the actress of mistreating her. Iyabo, in an Instagram Live session, hit back strongly, mocking Olunloyo’s lifestyle and stating that she would “continue to beg until she dies.”
The Nollywood actress has also shown a mix of defiance and sympathy toward Olunloyo. Last year, Iyabo even penned an open letter to Olunloyo’s son, urging him to forgive his mother and support her despite their strained relationship.
