On Friday, the Olubadan-In-Council nominated Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
After Oba Lekan Balogun, who ruled for two years until passing away at the age of eighty-one, left the position vacant on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, hosted the meeting of the kingmakers in the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, and they decided to agreed Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan.
Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe, the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, nominated him in place of Otun Balogun Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who was supposed to propose the next king.
The Ekaarun Olubadan and Ekaarun Balogun were excluded from the decision-making process since the 1957 statement exclusively recognised high chiefs from Ekerin Balogun and Ekerin Olubadan as kingmakers.
Officials from the state’s Ibadan South East Local Government Area monitored the meeting, and the conclusion is anticipated to be forwarded to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for approval.
