Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Governor of Kwara State, has authorised the introduction of a 100% Consolidated Health Salary Structure for nurses in the state.
This was revealed in a statement issued on Thursday by Mr Aminu Shehu, Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Kwara State Council, and Markus Luka, Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, respectively.
The governor also approved the employment of extra nurses to fill the void left by the exodus of health workers abroad, according to the statement.
According to the statement, the governor hoped that the decision “will improve the quality and standard of nursing care, in line with global best practices.”
The health workers’ union praised the Executive Secretary of the State Hospital Management Bureau for his participation in ensuring that the government accepted its requests.
The group also praised AbdulRazaq for approving and recruiting additional nurses, claiming that it will increase manpower and health care delivery in the state.
