The government of Lagos State is committed to providing a better water supply throughout the state.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, Mukhtaar Tijani, the newly appointed Managing Director of Lagos Water Corporation, made the commitment while inspecting important waterworks around the state.
The goal of the inspection visit was to evaluate the waterworks’ operations, infrastructure, and general effectiveness in order to guarantee “the continued delivery of high-quality services to the people of Lagos,” Tijani said.
He stated: “There is a need to determine the capacity of the water purification and production machinery, including sedimentation tanks, pumping stations, clear water tanks, filters, raw water inlets, and the chemical house at the waterworks.”
However, the managing director expressed pleasure with the corporation’s staff’s passion and commitment and assured them of his commitment to provide a supportive work environment and ongoing training to support high production and the efficient maintenance of the water facilities.
Tijani also revealed that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has approved emergency steps to ensure the renovation of significant waterworks at the Iju, Adiyan, and Akute intakes in order to enhance the state’s water supply services.
The statement added that “This intervention has resulted in a significant improvement in water availability in most parts of Lagos.”
