The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Chief has stated its intention to build new passport offices in Lagos State.

The NIS leadership stated that the decision was made in light of the commercial city’s large population and amount of candidates.

Caroline Aepoju, the Acting Comptroller General, dropped the hint. On Sunday during a parade at the Ikoyi Passport Office in Lagos.

She cautioned officials against passport racketeering and other unethical behavior, promising to punish anyone who engaged in it.

CG Adepoju urged them to rigorously follow passport processing protocols and border security problems.

According to the Immigration chief, the passport offices across the country must ensure that all applicants “are served promptly and with dignity”.

“There should be no delay in any passport offices and no applicants or Nigerians must be put under any hideous task or maltreatment,” she ordered.

Adepoju added that her focus was on personnel welfare and passport issues because the two areas “have witnessed lots of complaints”.
