According to various sources, Chelsea is close to bringing Frank Lampard back to manage the club on an interim basis until the end of the season.
The Blues are looking for their third permanent coach of the season following Graham Potter’s departure on Sunday night.
Chelsea is progressing in their hunt for a longer-term solution by holding discussions in London with Luis Enrique. Luis however is vying with Julian Nagelsmann for the job. However, it would suit the club to have a more experienced interim manager than Bruno Saltor. Bruno was put in charge after Potter’s departure and has been holding the forte while talks with Lampard are ongoing.
Frank Lampard was sacked by Everton after a winless run that saw them drop to 19th in the Premier League earlier in the season.
He attended Chelsea’s goalless draw with Liverpool on Tuesday. He has been also out of work since being sacked by Everton in January. The former midfielder lasted 18 months as Chelsea’s manager before being fired by the former owner Roman Abramovich. A dreadful run led to his replacement by Thomas Tuchel.
The Guardian reports he could be on the touchline for the Premier League clash against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.
