The Nigeria Police Force confirmed Lil Smart’s arrest in a recent Instagram statement, citing charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading false information against singer Naira Marley.
The statement detailed that Lil Smart was arrested at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on January 28, 2025. Authorities also recovered evidence linking him to the alleged crimes.
“Following a petition filed by a law firm, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Unit arrested one Idowu Smart Emmanuel for criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Abdulazeez Adeshina Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley).”
The investigation further revealed that Lil Smart had allegedly fabricated claims of being abducted and assaulted, using his Instagram handle @lilsmart_ to disseminate false information.
