Popular Nollywood actress and skitmaker Lizzy Jay recently opened up about how boredom unexpectedly launched her into the world of comedy and skit creation.
In an interview on Nollywood On Radio, Lizzy Jay shared that her initial dreams revolved around becoming either a medical doctor or a singer. However, during a period of solitude at home with little to occupy her time, she began experimenting with short comedy skits on her phone, purely as a means to pass the time.
To her surprise, one of her skits gained immense traction after being reposted by celebrities, including the iconic Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. This pivotal moment inspired Lizzy to pursue skit-making more seriously, a decision that changed the course of her career.
Reflecting on her unexpected journey, she said:
Nothing was on my mind when I started making skits. I wanted to do music, go to school, and become a medical doctor. Skit making was just a way of killing boredom. But after one of my skits went viral and was reposted by Omotola Jalade and other celebrities, I realized this could be something more.”
Lizzy Jay’s transition into skit-making not only brought her widespread recognition but also opened doors to Nollywood, where she has since starred in hit films such as Dear Affy, Dubara, and The Order of Things.
