Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, approved the reconstruction of the state’s speciality hospital in Maiduguri on Saturday, with new structures to be erected.
Zulum also directed the repair of Buba Marwa House, which houses medical doctors who work at the speciality hospital.
During an assessment visit to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, the governor issued both directives.
“We have examined the capacity of the hospital, and we will soon embark on erecting more structures and make certain adjustments in such a way that doctors and other health allied staff will have offices in the premises,” Zulum noted.
The governor also stated that medical equipment will be purchased and that more medical personnel, including physicians and nurses, will be hired.
According to the Zulum:
“Borno State Government will procure medical equipment that are currently not available at the hospital. We will recruit more doctors and nurses and ensure wash facilities are provided.”
“All of these efforts are geared towards repositioning the health care system in Borno State,” he said.
Bukar Tijjani, Secretary to the State Government, and other key government officials joined Governor Zulum to the evaluation.
