Man United Gets Green Light to Sign Goncalo Ramos

According to reports, Erik ten Hag has given the go-ahead for Manchester United to recruit promising Benfica striker, Goncalo Ramos, this summer.
The Portuguese international has been in excellent form for club and country this season, netting 27 goals in 43 appearances. He made his name known at last year’s World Cup. After parting ways with Cristiano Ronaldo in November and bringing in Wout Weghorst on loan as a temporary replacement, United is expected to be on the market for a new centre forward this summer.

Ramos has reportedly received the “go-ahead” from Ten Hag, according to the Spanish newspaper AS. He is also reportedly a target for Real Madrid and is now valued by Transfermarkt at a little over £35m. However, if the 21-year-old were to go for such a small sum, it would be considered outright theft. Benfica’s claimed valuation of almost £88 million seems much more reasonable. Ramos is the latest in a long line of strikers linked to an off-season move to Old Trafford. United is also rumoured to be considering Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund.

At the age of 17, the Benfica academy product made his senior debut for Portugal’s most illustrious club in 2019. Since then, he has made 95 appearances across all competitions, scoring 38 goals.

But it was Ramos’ stunning competitive international debut that truly got everyone’s attention. He played ahead of Ronaldo, who was benched. He went on to score three goals as Portugal crushed Switzerland 5-1 in the round of 16 of the Qatar 2022 tournament.
