MANAGING EDITOR-VACANCY AT TECHPOINT AFRICA

Techpoint Africa is seeking an experienced and visionary Managing Editor to lead our editorial team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for technology and innovation in Africa. They will be responsible for overseeing the content creation process, ensuring the highest quality of publications, and driving our editorial vision forward.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Implement Editorial Strategies: Create and execute content strategies that align with Techpoint Africa’s mission and goals, resonating with our audience and driving engagement.
• Oversee Content Production: Manage the entire content production process, from idea generation to publication. Work closely with writers, assigning tasks, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
• Mentor and Train Staff: Provide ongoing training and mentorship to help our team of writers and editorial staff grow and improve their skills.
• Quality Control: Ensure all content is accurate, engaging, and meets Techpoint Africa’s standards. Implement rigorous editing and fact-checking processes.
• Audience Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage with our audience through social media, newsletters, and events. Proactively find ways to interact with and grow our readership.
• Stay Updated with Industry Trends: Keep up with the latest trends in journalism, digital media, and the tech industry to ensure Techpoint Africa remains relevant and ahead of the curve.

Qualification

• Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and inspire a team of writers and editorial staff, setting clear goals and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Editorial Vision and Creativity: Innovative ideas for content creation, audience engagement, and brand development.
• Experience and Expertise: Solid background in journalism or digital media, with proven experience in managing editorial teams. Familiarity with tech journalism or the African tech landscape is a plus.
• Strong Editing Skills: Excellent editing skills with a keen eye for detail, proficiency in grammar, style, and tone.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Comfortable using analytics to guide editorial decisions, track content performance, and make informed decisions.
• Project Management Skills: Adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining good relationships with the team, freelancers, and stakeholders.
