The Ogun State House of Assembly has stated that it is prepared to investigate the numerous disruptions to the academic calendar of the state-owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta.

The school’s teaching and non-teaching personnel went on strike earlier this month to demand their unpaid three-month salary.

The students also recently held a protest against the increase in entrance acceptance fees from N35,000 to N50,500, as well as the delay in the publication of their examination results.

Yusuf Amosun, Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science, and Technology, presented findings on the frequent interruption of the academic calendar at MAPOLY in plenary on Wednesday.

After much deliberation, the Assembly decided to hold a public hearing to address concerns impacting the institution and safeguard students from unwarranted delays induced by the strike.

The Assembly, according to the Speaker, will accept proposals from MAPOLY’s Governing Board, management and staff, as well as students.

Meanwhile, the Assembly enacted the Ogun State Legislative monies Management Law, 2023, and the Ogun State Judiciary Funds Management Law, 2023, on Wednesday, to guarantee prudent distribution of monies to the two branches of government in advance of their financial autonomy.
