May Edochie Takes Legal Action Against Yinka Theisen Over Defamation

May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has officially dragged Yinka Theisen, the estranged fiancée of her former brother-in-law, to court.

On Instagram, May shared a screenshot of a cease and desist letter sent to Yinka through her lawyers. In the letter, Yinka was accused of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, gaslighting, malicious falsehood, public shaming, and defamation.

May’s legal team demanded that Yinka retract all defamatory statements, delete her publications, issue a public apology, and pay ₦500 million in damages.

This comes shortly after May filed a separate lawsuit against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accusing him of similar offenses, including cyberbullying and defamation, and demanding ₦1 billion in compensation.

The clash between the women has been brewing for months. Last month, Yinka warned May after alleging that some of May’s supporters petitioned her employers to get her fired. Calling the move absurd, Yinka described herself as “the leader of the May Nation” and threatened to take legal action of her own.

Yinka, who married Yul’s elder brother, Linc, in June 2025, openly declared her support for Yul and his second wife Judy Austin—a stance that angered May’s loyal fans. But her marriage soon ran into trouble after Linc distanced himself from her public attacks on May, stressing that he did not endorse her actions.

Reacting to his statement, Yinka accused him of cowardice and claimed she was being unfairly targeted because she is Yoruba. She also alleged that while Rita Edochie publicly supports May, she secretly fuels tension behind the scenes.
