Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has said that France President Emmanuel Macron has no influence on his career.
The current PSG contract of Mbappe will end in 2024. This summer, there have been rumours that the France captain would leave PSG for Real Madrid. Macron asked Mbappe, then 24 years old, to stay at PSG and keep playing in French Ligue 1. This happened when he was rumoured to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 for Real Madrid.
The player just restated his position that his intention was to stay with the Parisians, despite earlier this week’s claims by French media that Macron will campaign for Mbappe to remain at PSG this summer.
“What influence does the President have? In my career today, in 2023, none.
“He wants me to stay in Paris, my objective is to stay. We are on the same wavelength.
“Am I going to leave PSG? I have already answered, I have said that my objective is to stay at PSG, that is my only option at the moment. I am ready to come back when pre-season resumes,” Mbappe told reporters ahead of France’s European Championship qualifier against Gibraltar on Friday.
