Michelle Gentry, the daughter of Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe, dazzled on the red carpet at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), following in her mother’s fashionable footsteps.
The 11th edition of the prestigious event took place at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, with numerous celebrities gracing the occasion.
Taking to Instagram, Michelle shared photos of her stunning outfit, revealing that it was her first time attending the AMVCA. She proudly captioned her post, “My 1st AMVCA wearing my favorite color.” Fans and fellow celebrities were quick to comment, praising her for her fashionable look. Celebrities such as Portable’s babymama Ashabi, Kiekie, Priscilla Ojo, and Emmanuel Good News flooded her comment section with admiration.
Michelle was undoubtedly showing support for her mother, Mercy Aigbe, whose movie Thinline had received a nomination at the awards.
Beyond the glamorous red carpet appearance, Michelle has been a proud supporter of her mother’s ventures in the film industry. Mercy Aigbe’s first cinema production, Ada Omo Daddy, grossed a whopping N187 million in 2023, ranking as the third-highest-grossing Nollywood film of the year. Despite facing stiff competition from heavyweights like Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, the success was a monumental achievement.
Expressing her joy, Michelle shared how proud she was of her mother, noting the resilience Mercy demonstrated throughout the filmmaking process. She praised her mother for pouring her heart into the movie, despite the challenges.
Following the success of Ada Omo Daddy, Mercy Aigbe’s second film, Thin Line, also made waves in the cinema, grossing over N100 million at the box office.
