Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced electrical engineer specializing in smart electricity meters to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the deployment, configuration and maintenance of smart metering systems, including the meter and the metering infrastructure accompanying it. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in firmware and hardware, software updates, as well as hands-on experience in installation and fieldwork. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in working with single-phase and three-phase smart meters, as well as High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) meters.
Responsibilities
1. Firmware and Hardware Configuration:
a. Configure and optimize smart meter firmware to meet specific client requirements
b. Perform hardware configurations and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
2. Software Updates:
a. Implement software updates and patches for smart metering systems.
b. Ensure the seamless integration of new features and improvements.
3. Installation and Fieldwork:
a. Conduct and/or supervise on-site installation and commissioning of smart meters, ensuring proper setup and functionality.
b. Perform field inspections, troubleshooting and maintenance of smart metering infrastructure.
4. System Integration
a. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate smart metering systems with existing distribution company infrastructure.
b. Ensure interoperability with related technologies and platforms.
5. Technical Support
a. Provide technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders
Address and resolve issues related to smart meter functionality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. Graduate from Technical School + min. 4 years in steady practice
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the smart metering industry
- In depth knowledge of single and three phase smart meters
- Proficiency in firmware and hardware configuration for smart metering devices
- Experience with High Voltage and Low Voltage meters
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with software updates and maintenance procedures
- Ability to perform fieldwork and installation in diverse environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge (or willingness to learn) of the Nigerian Metering Code
- Honesty and integrity
