The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has sparked mixed reactions by lifting the ban on Nollywood actress Adanma Luke, which was initially imposed following the tragic death of actor Junior Pope and others.

The incident occurred while they were returning from a movie set at Anam River in Anambra. In response, AGN had banned actors and actresses from participating in Adanma Luke’s movies and suspended all productions involving riverine areas and boat riding indefinitely.

The Guild’s National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, announced the decision to pardon Adanma Luke during the guild’s National Executive Council meeting. The statement read:

The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, uses this opportunity to announce the lifting of the suspension placed on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie ‘Another Side of Life,’ where star actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam river. The President also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas but cautioned members to apply all safety standard measures recommended in the AGN Bylaws.”
