Nollywood actress Motilola Akinlami has issued a public apology following her criticism of the popular historical movie “House of Ga’a.”

“House of Ga’a” is a historical action drama that focuses on a ruthless kingmaker who reigns over the Oyo Empire until his son deposes him. The movie features notable stars such as Femi Adebayo, Ibrahim Chatta, Bimbo Manuel, Jide Oyegbile, Toyin Abraham, Adeniyi Johnson, Femi Branch, and Funke Akindele. It was directed by the award-winning filmmaker Bolanle Austen Peters.

In a since-deleted post, Motilola reviewed the movie in a manner that didn’t sit well with many, who assumed she was attempting to undermine Bolanle’s work.

Taking to her Instagram page, Motilola clarified her intentions, stating that her post was misconstrued as an attempt to belittle someone’s hard work. She emphasized that this was not the case, as undermining others’ efforts is not in her character. She acknowledged the hard work and skill that went into creating the movie and explained that her original post was merely an observation that she decided to delete.

Offering a new review of the movie, Motilola described “House of Ga’a” as a great film with its own unique flavors and elements, noting that there are multiple perspectives to consider. She apologized for only seeing her own side and promised to be more mindful in the future.

Apologies are in order as regards a post I did last week. After due reflection, I realized how that post may have been misconstrued to mean I was trying to bring down someone’s hard work. That, in fact, isn’t the case. It’s not in my character. I recognize the hard work and skill that went into putting together that beautiful work of art.

I merely made an observation that I took down about 2 minutes after I read it again and had a conversation with a couple of people. I see how that may have sounded the way it did.

Having said that, HOUSE OF GA’A is a great movie that has its own flavors and add-ons, as there are many sides to a coin. I only saw my own side, and for this, I apologize.

Again, I’m sorry if that came across the wrong way. I honestly didn’t mean for that to happen.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS. I should have known better!

My name is Motilola Akinlami, and HOUSE OF GA’A is a great movie. Have a blessed week ahead!”

A few weeks ago, the Yoruba actress also called out her senior colleague Kunle Afod and his wife, Desola Afod, for allegedly sabotaging her career. Motilola shared a lengthy video detailing the ill-treatment she received from her colleagues due to Kunle Afod’s interference. She accused Desola Afod of slandering her on social media with numerous false allegations. Motilola pleaded with Kunle to stop defaming her as she was no longer interested in maintaining a relationship with him.

In another post, Motilola expressed gratitude to God for helping her through difficult times, despite attempts to shake her spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
