Yoruba Nollywood actress Motilola Akinlami is celebrating her new age on the 21st of January 2025 with a heartfelt tribute to her survival.
In an emotional post on her verified social media page, the actress reflected on her near-death experience and how she overcame numerous life-threatening challenges.
Motilola’s birthday this year holds a special significance as she marks not only the passage of another year but also her survival against various threats to her life. The actress, known for her eloquence and resilience, shared with her followers the reason behind her birthday announcement. She revealed that she had survived numerous attacks and threats and wanted to announce her survival before anyone could mourn her.
In her post, she wrote:
This BIRTHDAY is a special one because I’m alive because I survived numerous attacks, plenty threats to life. This isn’t a post to join the popularity contest, it’s so that everyone that sees this post will say ‘Thank you God for Motilola’ because this post isn’t announcing the end of her life… E bami dupe lowo Olorun. 28 days at the hospital no be joke e wo… Story dey come for now just say THANK YOU LORD. ENEMIES SE E FE GBO… MO FO TI.”
Motilola’s survival came after enduring a harrowing 28-day hospital stay, which she described as a tough ordeal. In a message to her followers, she invited them to join her in thanksgiving, expressing gratitude for overcoming the physical, spiritual, and emotional trials she had faced.
This isn’t the first time the actress has openly spoken about the challenges in her life. Last year, in 2024, Motilola had called out Nollywood colleagues Kunle Afod and Desola Afod, accusing them of sabotaging her career. She shared a lengthy video where she revealed the interference that led to blocked opportunities with high-profile figures like Femi Adebayo and Joke Jigan.
Despite the struggles she has faced, Motilola remains thankful. In the video where she emotionally detailed the trials she experienced, she expressed her gratitude to God for helping her stay strong despite the spiritual, emotional, and physical toll the events had taken on her.
