The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has promoted four Group Captains to the high rank of Air Commodore for their exceptional devotion and loyalty to the military.
AVM Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja.
Gabkwet said the officers, who would also commence their retirement from the NAF immediately, were honoured with their new ranks in the full glare of their families, friends, and colleagues by the Chief of the Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
He stated that the officers’ promotions, which occurred outside of the usual promotion path, demonstrated their significant contributions to both the NAF and the nation.
According to him, among the officers is Air Commodore John Opara, who was recognised for his exceptional performance as an adept administrative officer.
“The ceremony also highlighted the careers of two NAF Chaplains and Imam, Air Commodores Okechukwu Godson Okoye, David Ajar Ahmadu, and Tahir Bin-Isah.”
In his remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar, CAS, praised the officers for their remarkable devotion and the great influence they have had on the NAF.
Abubakar stated that Opara’s steadfast devotion and major efforts were acknowledged, reinforcing the concept that ‘delay is not denial’.
