The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has raised concern over the rising number of abduction in communities throughout the state.
Mr Muhammad Oyanki, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, addressed the issue of public interest at plenary on Monday in Lafia.
While reading the Assembly’s decision on the subject, the Speaker, Mr Danladi Jatau, instructed local government council chairmen to hold security summits within two weeks in partnership with traditional rulers and security agencies to combat the scour
Jatau thanked Oyanki and other members of the Assembly for their helpful contributions to the matter.
“The resolution of the House is to the effect that we commend Governor Abdullahi Sule and security agencies for their efforts in tackling insecurity in the state.
He said:
“We urge the security agencies to be more committed and restrategize to tackle kidnapping in the state.
“The anti-kidnapping law passed by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly should be strictly obeyed and anyone found wanting should be dealt with accordingly.”
The Speaker also urged locals to collaborate and provide security services with vital information to assist combat abduction and other criminal actions in the state.
